Ronald Horvat's Professional Journey

Ronald Horvat's journey began where many nonprofit stories do— in direct service as a Children's and Youth Services Director, running after-school programs and camps for kids ages 5 to 17. But what started with a passion for community impact would evolve into a distinguished three-decade career that has transformed the nonprofit sector.

From those early grassroots beginnings, Ronald climbed every rung of the nonprofit ladder, serving as Executive Director, Regional Leader, Chief Development Officer, and board member across multiple organizations. This comprehensive experience gave him something rare in consulting—he's actually lived the challenges his clients face every day.

The pinnacle came during his 12-year tenure with the American Red Cross, where he rose to Division Fundraising Vice President, overseeing operations across 8 states and managing 70+ staff members. His results speak volumes: he orchestrated the largest individual gift in Red Cross history—a staggering $40 million donation—and consistently exceeded goals, including surpassing his division's fundraising target by 134% while raising $110 million in a single year.

But Ronald's impact extends beyond any single organization. Throughout his career, he's helped raise more than $1 billion in philanthropic support. As Executive Director of The PRECEDE Foundation, he secured their largest individual gift of $1.25 million and increased revenue by 45% while expanding the donor base by 39%. His secret? Understanding that nonprofit struggles aren't really about money—they're about clarity, systems, and empowering people to succeed.

Today, Ronald brings this wealth of experience to his dual roles as Adjunct Professor at Case Western Reserve University and through Ronald Horvat and Associates.
